鲍歌 Paul Bao (1957 – 2016)

鲍歌, 于1977年考入重庆大学数学系,于1981获学士学位。同年考入西南交通大学数学系,于1984获硕士学位。 1984年赴深圳参加蛇口工业区开发建设。1985年考入加拿大卡尔加里大学, 于1988年,获计算机科学博士学位。

从1988年至1990年，鲍歌博士曾担任加拿大卡尔加里大学计算机科学系的教师。1990年至1995年, 鲍歌博士在IBM多伦多担任高级职员分析师。从1995年至2000年，他先后担任香港理工大学计算机系副教授，香港中文大学信息工程学院计算机系客座教授，新加坡南洋理工大学教授。从2005年至今, 鲍歌博士任南佛罗里达大学信息技术工程系信息技术项目主任和副教授。

鲍歌博士的研究方向是计算机图形和图像处理，图像的远程呈现和演练，网络多媒体系统和图像/视频编码等。他获得超过$1,000,000美元的科研经费。他曾多次担任国际会议评审委员会委员。鲍歌博士发表了60多篇科研论文在各种学术杂志上，并在60多个国际会议上宣讲了他的科研成果。他是IEEE的高级成员

Paul Bao obtained a B. A. and a Master degrees in Mathematics from Chongqing University in 1981 and Southwest Jiaotong University in 1994, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Calgary, Canada in 1988.

Dr. Bao served on the faculty of Computer Science Department, University of Calgary from 1988 to 1990 and then proceeded to working in IBM Canada as a senior staff analyst in 1990-1995. He was an associate professor in the Computing Department, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, a visiting professor in the Department of Information Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a professor in Nanyang Technological University from 1995 to 2005. He is currently IT Program Director and an associate professor in Department of Information Technology Engineering , University of South Florida Engineering.

Dr. Bao’s research interests are in Computer Graphics and Image Processing, Image-based Remote Rendering and Walkthrough, Networked Multimedia systems and Image/Video Coding, Medical Imaging; Pattern Recognition, etc. He has been awarded over US$1,000,000 in research grants from various funding organizations during his academic tenure and has served in program committees for numerous international conferences. Dr. Bao has published over 60 journal papers and given over 60 conference presentations in those areas. Dr. Bao is a senior member of IEEE.
